Getting Caught Up: SLTOA Veterans Run

Once again, attempting to get caught up on the blog, following two computer crashes (the second resulting in the purchase of a new laptop). Throw in the end-of-year holidays and a couple of snowfalls and things just got a tad crazy (in the words of Bill Murray, “dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!”).

Anyway, since the last post, SLTOA’s engaged in three major driving events. We’ll start with 9 November’s twelfth edition of the Vets Run, which started and finished in Columbia, Illinois. We had 14 cars and 19 people make the drive, which traversed a number of those highly entertaining roads in the Illinois bluffs. The drive concluded with lunch at Millers on Main, in Columbia.

To top off the day, the participants donated $715 to this year’s veterans assistance organization, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Club matching brought the total donation to the DAV to $1430.

In Navy terms, Bravo Zulu (well done) to all who made the drive and contributed.
