Beware the Bear

Moving right along, on 15 February SLTOA opened it’s 2026 driving season with the annual Polar Bear Run. The drive’s the longest-running major event with the club, dating to the first Polar Bear in early 1983.

This year we had about 42 participants in 25 or so cars, the usual mix of Triumphs, MGs, an Austin-Healey Bugeye, Mazdas plus a couple of Corvettes, a Volvo P1800ES, Toyota MR2, Fiat 2000 Spider (!) plus a few others. The drive started in Chesterfield and wound up at the Hawthorne Inn in Labadie. As per usual, great roads and great fun; the day started cool and windy but by the mid-point most of the tops were down.

Thanks to Andy, Ben, Linda, John and Stephen for the photos! And thanks to all who came out for the drive.

How ’bout that, the bear drives an MGA….
