There will be no regularly scheduled third-Tuesday meeting in December.† The December meeting will be during our Christmas party at Bevo Mill.† See details for the party below.
We discussed the Christmas party, the Polar Bear Run and the web site.
Bevo Mill is located at the intersection of Morganford and Gravois in South St. Louis.† The cost is $25 for a couple or $15 for an individual.† Reservations must be made.† SLTOA will give Bevo a final count on Dec. 14th.†† If you have not yet mailed your payment to Bonnie David, you still can.† If you are not sure the mail will travel quickly enough, give Bonnie a call at:† (636) 949-0825.† Mail your payment (a check made to SLTOA) to our treasurer Bonnie David, 500 Marie Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301-0500.
If you plan to come, I am sure that our trash and treasure auction tradition will be continued.† (I wonder who will get the Rambler shocks this year?)† For new members, party attendees (individual or couple) usually bring two wrapped gifts, one nice gift (bottle of wine etc., nothing expensive) and one trash gift (a used spark plug or something else that fell off your Triumph that is cluttering up your garage floor).† Sometimes something trivial (but nice like a small bag of peanuts) will be added to the trash gift just to be nice.† After eating we will have an auction where everyone will bid on the gifts with SLTOA money that will be provided.
Please make your reservations as early as possible so that a final count can be given to the restaurant.
Has this cold weather gotten you in the mood to put your top down and go out for a drive in your Triumph?† If your answer is yes then you are ready for our Annual St. Louis Triumph Owners Association Polar Bear Run!† The date has been set for February 4th, 2001.† The drive will begin at the Famous & Barr lower parking lot at the South County Center.† South County Center is between I 55, I 255, Lemay Ferry, and Lindberg Blvd.† John Lamberg is in the process of mapping a drive for points south and then ending at my house in Jefferson County south of Fenton.† The drive will start at 10:00 AM and end when we get to my house in the afternoon.† We will order in pizza Dutch treat.† Individuals may bring other treats and drinks as desired.† We have sent invitations to both the MG club and Austin Healey club for the drive and the following party so we might have a pretty nice attendance this year.
For new members, the drive rules are as follows: You must drive a British car.† You must drive with the top down.† If you have a hard top car, you must drive with the windows open.† You get points for having something go wrong with your car like having your fuel pump quit.† You get additional points if you rig an electronic fuel pump with fuel hoses running from your gas fill tube, through the cockpit of your car, and around the windshield to the engine.† If that is too elaborate for you, just donít fill up your gas tank so that it runs empty along the way.† You arenít driving an LBC if something doesnít go wrong!† And the final rule is...†† all rules can be ignored as long as you have a good time!
The web site is growing.† Check out the local Triumph service venders section.† Please add your favorite service provider to the list.
